I launched The Dance Jukebox on Hayling Island in February 2018 and the opening night was a great success with 88 people dancing the night away.
The idea was born when I went to a city night club and found myself dancing to a continuous throb of music I didn't know with vomit on the dancefloor. That was 0k when I was 18 [well, I never did like the sticky vomit] but, these days, I want to dance to music I can sing along to and re-live the glorious years of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Salsa and stricty nights are great but, with the dance jukebox, you don't need a dance partner and it's a really friendly atmosphere. I was delighted to have found so many like-minded people to have fun with.
The dance juke box is a request night disco with a live singer / interactive DJ so the guests choose the set list as we go along. I read the room and we get up and boogie on down to whatever people want at the time. Motown, soul, disco, Beatles, Abba, Blondie, Madness, Dexy's Midnight Runners and the Rolling Stones always feature heavily.
So, strike the pose, [John Travolta, Mick Jagger, Adam Ant or Madonna style...the choice is yours] and one, two, three, shake your body down.
There are no dates currently booked but please get in touch and, when we have enough interest, I will get some dates organised! I look forward to dancing the night away with other young at heart mavericks, super troupers and sergeant peppers.
